Wearables are still a type of device that has not quite succeeded in the market, despite the fact that all the users that we have, for example an Apple Watch, are very happy with them, mainly due to the functionality it offers us, especially if we spend a lot of time away from home, since it allows us to consult and answer any type of notifications, whether they are messages or calls. The second generation introduced as main novelties the GPS chip and water resistance, which confirms that innovation in this sector is being very limited.
It took Apple two years to launch the second generation of the Apple Watch, a generation that came under the names Series 1 and Series 2 while the first generation model did not carry any kind of surname. At the end of last year, Apple released the second generation of the Apple Watch But according to a large number of rumors that come from China, Apple could present the third generation, or Series 3 at the end of this year, exactly in the month of September, a device that would be presented together with the new iPhone.
The evolution of the wearables market is not as fast as it was at first in the world of telephony, so it is very unlikely that this year, the guys from Cupertino will renew the Apple Watch again. The main novelty that users could expect from the third generation of the Apple Watch would be that it offered us the possibility of being able to make use of an LTE chip, which would eliminate the dependence that currently offers us on the iPhone, dependence that has at least been reduced with the Incorporation in the Series 2 models of a GPS chip, which prevents sports enthusiasts from taking their iPhone for exercise.
It begins to tire me that Apple seems to have their computer section completely abandoned with totally obsolete equipment. The Mac Pro, for example, has not been updated for 3 years. The Mac Mini carries a fourth generation processor, when PCs are already in the seventh. Then they update the MacBook Pro and they take it out with a skylake processor, instead of the kaby lake, with a maximum of 16Gb of memory (DDR3 instead of DDR4) without the possibility of future extensions and even more expensive than usual because of the trick of the touch bar. However mobile devices, be it iphone, ipad or iWatch if they update them often. It seems clear the sector in which they are focusing their efforts and the customers who buy their computers are losing it.
At the moment they have already pushed me to buy a desktop PC, because I was not going to spend € 1000 on a MacMini with obsolete hardware. And I hope they rectify with the laptops, otherwise I will continue with my 2011 MBP, which was expandable, and I have it with 512 SSD and 16Gb of memory. But when it falls short, I'm already considering a Surface Book 2 when it comes out.
Very disappointed with apple, except with its iphone, I'm happy with that.
