Apple disables FaceTime to resolve security issue

Group FaceTime

During the last WWDC, the Cupertino-based company presented some of the new features that would come from the next versions of the operating systems of all its devices. One of the most striking were the group calls via FaceTime, a function that took longer than necessary to arrive.

Group calls via FaceTime allows us to videoconference with up to 32 members, a function that by the way we are using in the podcast weeks that Soy de Mac and iPhone News we broadcast every week through YouTube. This function has just been disabled by Apple due to a security problem that we detail below.

This bug allowed the callers to remotely pick up the calls they made, so that they had access to both the audio and the video of the terminal where they were received.

To do this, you just had to add a new person to the video call, we ourselves are the ones who do it, so that at that moment, both the camera and the microphone of the recipient of our call will be activated without showing on the screen that both the video and the audio of your device are being transmitted.

But also, if the recipient of the call, presses one of the keys to silence the device, the call is automatically picked up.

FaceTime Off

Apple has been quick to confirm the presence of this bug and you have disabled FaceTime as a precaution. In addition, he has confirmed that he is working on a patch that will be released this week to solve the problem. As we can see on the Technical Support page of the services that Apple makes available to us, FaceTime has a functioning problem since 4:16 am peninsular.
