Apple doubles donation in China to fight Covid-19

Tim Cook

Apple doubled the donation it initially made in China to fight Covid-19, totaling 50 million yuan, about $ 7 million. Apple's donations add to those of the rest of the firms around the world that are contributing their bit to combat this pandemic.

Cook explained on social networks that it is not about one-time donations as they will continue betting on this type of financial aid after a while everything is "normalized" or enters a more controlled situation.

Speaking to Weibo (a social network similar to Twitter in China), the well-known Chinese social network, the CEO of Apple explained that the situation is complicated and that they will bet on helping in everything they can for as long as possible:

Apple will continue to contribute the rest of the money to support long-term public health recovery efforts. China has shown incredible spirit and significant resilience in containing this Covid-19 outbreak and we are grateful to our employees there, partners and customers in China for all their support during these challenging times.

The truth is that a few days ago Apple had already donated more than 2,8 million dollars to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, an organization based in Beijing that contributes directly to six hospitals in Hubei and the new hospital built. in just over 10 days from Leishenshan to Wuhan, cities heavily affected by this Covid-19. The important thing is that Apple continues to provide its help around the world and continues with the mass shipment of N95 masks to health professionals in the United States and Europe, not just China.
