Apple rises to the first position in the ranking of luxury watch companies

Although Apple has said otherwise on several occasions, comparisons with luxury brand watches seem inevitable. It must be borne in mind that apart from the typical competitors in the smartwatch niche such as Motorola, LG, Samsung ... Apple also markets variants of its watch with premium finishes and high cost that go directly to compete from you to you with brands watchmaking classics like TAG Heuer or Rolex.

In this way, the Apple watch has displaced Rolex in a list of global luxury brands, this market analysis has been carried out by the company NetBase, which has carried out a study with variables such as opinion and valuation in social networks and consumer confidence in more than 700 million posts published between 2014 and 2015.

In this study, Apple has positioned itself in the first place in the category of watches, a fact that becomes even more relevant when seeing that within the category it is the only one that markets a smartwatch. In addition to the aforementioned brands, there are others as relevant as Richemont, Curren or Patek Philippe, brands that in certain cases they have managed to create authentic works of art.

Overall, Apple has come in strong on the list in this database where the overall most valued luxury brand was Chanel. Apple, for its part, was in fourth position, while if we look at specific devices, the iPhone was ranked number 11 and the Apple Watch ranked 13 respectively. The iPad for its part fell off the list for the first time in many years.

We should not be surprised that this analysis locates Apple as a luxury brand since although Jony Ive has said the opposite in more occasions, it is not surprising since the collaborations with brands like Hermès or the Apple Stores now run by the former Burberry manager make it inevitable that she will give off that aura of luxury.
