The Apple Watch loses popularity against Android Wear

Since the launch of the Apple Watch, a year ago, many of us are the users that today we would like to know from the mouth of Tim Cook the number of devices they have sold so far. Many are the analysts who venture to launch figures happily without any basis. According to some of these, Apple could have sold 15 million Apple Watch over the past year and during the first quarter of this year, the company could have shipped 2,2 million units. But despite not having official data, if we rely on analysts' data, the Apple Watch has always been the most popular smartwatch and therefore the best-selling.

According to Strategy Analytics, the interest in Apple Watch has started to go down in this first quarter compared to last year, falling from 63% to the current 52,4%. The main reason for this drop is motivated by the large number of rivals with Android Wear that are coming to the market and that are making things very difficult for users when deciding.

Currently in Android Wear we can find a large number of devices of different measures, sizes, options at very affordable prices. What's more iOS compatibility Thanks to the application that Google launched a few months ago, it gives the possibility of considering these smartwatches as an option even though the functions are somewhat limited, since we cannot interact in both directions other than in the reproduction of music.

Despite the loss of interest by users, Apple continues to maintain a comfortable advantage compared to the next manufacturer, Samsung, which has only managed to send just over 600.000 devices for sale, while the rest of the manufacturers have sent in total 1.4 million units. But if we look at the graph of interest of the analyst users, we can see how Samsung has also seen reduce the interest of its users by 1,7 points, while Apple has done so by 11,6 points. Once again, the one who gains from the decline in both companies are the rest of the companies that together manage to have 33,3%.

Currently the most interesting model that can compete with Apple Watch is the Samsung Gear S2 that instead of these based on Android Wear is managed by Samsung's own operating system, Tizen. This smartwatch offers us a rotating dial that allows us to control almost all the watch options without having to interact with the screen. But until the Koreans launch an application compatible with Android and iOS, this model is condemned to a small number of users. A shame.
