Apple will not accept updates to applications designed with the watchOS 1 SDK starting next year

In recent years, Apple has been regularly informing all developers of the need to update their 32-bit applications so that they were fully compatible with 64-bit processors, some processors that began to be implemented in Apple terminals from Iphone 5s, this being the first to implement it.

With the arrival of iOS 11, all those applications that have not been updated have been left out, so they are no longer available for all terminals that are compatible with iOS 11. It seems that Apple's next move to start cleaning in the App Store affects the applications compatible with watchOS 1, the first version of the Apple Watch operating system.

On Apple's developer portal, he urges all developers who released their apps with the release of watchOS 1 to update to watchOS 4 to be compatible with all Apple Watch models currently available for sale by Apple, including the Apple Watch Series 3. By updating applications to watchOS 4, developers will take advantage of all the fluidity and performance advantages that have been added to the platform in the latest versions that Apple has released to the market in addition to having increased the application limit from 50 to 75 MB.

Apple will continue to accept updates to these types of applications until next April 1, 2018, April Fools' Day in America. As of April 2, Apple will no longer accept applications that want to update or that have been created with the watchOS 1 SDK. The update must be done with the watchOS 2 SDK or later. If it is a new application, it must have been developed by the watchOS 4 SDK or later.

Apple is currently developing watchOS 4.2 which is in the third beta, and whose final version is scheduled to be released before the end of this year.
