Apple to introduce Mac with ARM in 2020 or 2021 according to Ming-Chi Kuo

A few hours ago we commented on Ming-Chi Kuo's statements about the Apple world, as sources with great success. Well, the executive said in the last hours that TSMC and Apple are working on Macs with ARM processors for 2020 or 2021.

Apparently, the information comes from a note issued to shareholders, about the extension of the contracts to produce the iPhone and iPad processors, but also from A-series processors for Macs, starting in 2020 or 2021. The note comments that the contribution to the Mac would be in a complete way and not only in a part of them.

The benefits for both parties are vast, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. The manufacturing costs would be lower, allowing a lower price and obtain higher market share. Also Apple would differentiate itself from competing products, although this project, from the hand of ARM can be valuable or harmful. Like many business projects, the success of this important step will only be seen over time.

This change affects many more parts of the Mac division than it may at first appear. First, change is unlikely to occur across the range. Surely, the first computers where we see ARM chips will be the ones with the lowest power, like some MacBook or Mac mini. Second, these changes involve changing the architecture of much of the software, including the macOS operating system. In any case, Apple has been known to work magic with these changes, as it did recently with the migration from HFS + to APFS.

Finally, we do not know what Intel's reaction to Apple's abandonment may be. It is true that the security problems of Intel chips have been the "last straw" for the Cupertino company, but Intel's responsiveness is always high. With all this, we will be attentive in the coming months to the news in this regard.
