Avid and Premiere will accept Apple's ProRes RAW format

Although each manufacturer uses a different encoding for their video format, it does not hurt that these formats are compatible with different editing programs. If they are also professional formats, it does not make much sense that an Apple format is not compatible in Adobe or vice versa.

This is what the programmers must have thought Avid and Premiere, already working on a future version of their software with accept encoding ProRes RAW, native to Apple. More if possible when more and more part of the work is done in one program and finished in another.

According to company announcements in the past IBC 2019, both Media Composer 2019 as an update of Premiere CC, will allow importing in ProRes RAW format. But this agreement is bidirectional, as Apple announces that the codecs in DNxHR and DNxHD formats from Avid will be compatible with macOS, in future updates. Predictably we will find them in the future update of Final Cut Pro X. Being able to work in Final Cut Pro X and pass the part of the work to Premiere CC or vice versa, can be a reality from now on.

Apple has been using the "large" version of ProRes since April 2018. Since then, the most powerful Macs can edit color and lighting with a multitude of adjustments and great precision. Premiere CC will fully natively support ProRes RAW, as it tells us 4K Shooter at their article. On other occasions we must go to an additional complement. Therefore, any update will not require additional adjustments and will be in line with the rest of the formats and functions.

The doubts that arise are if it will be compatible with Premiere PC users. It would be perfect to work in a team regardless of the operating system that each user has. We look forward to an update from Final Cut Pro X at the same time that Apple puts the Mac Pro on sale. At that time we will see what news Apple has planned for the next few months.
