Belkin launches Wemo with which you can control your home automation with the Apple Watch

If when we say that the successes of the Apple Watch are only beginning, we are not wrong. Apple continues to collaborate with third-party companies in what has to do with the implementation of the use of the Apple Watch in more and more actions of daily life. As you already know, Apple is also making its first steps in terms of home automation with the HomeKit, a complete control protocol through which and with an iOS device or the Apple Watch you can control aspects such as the light in the rooms , the opening or not of the blinds or even the heating on when you ask Siri.

Many are the manufacturers of accessories that are taking into account the set of actions of the HomeKit protocol so that their products can work perfectly with the guidelines that Apple establishes in them and in this case it was Belkin's turn with its new Wemo catwalk.

We have to familiarize ourselves with this new terminology and it is that today, for certain accessories such as light bulbs, thermostats or blinds to be dogmatized, they need a "gateway" device which is what really controls these peripherals. If you control the gateway with your Apple Watch or iOS device, you can control the accessories that that catwalk can control.

We have a quick example in the wide range of home automation accessories that Ikea has for sale with its own control gateway. You download an application and you can control the gateway with your phone. However, recently they have made that gateway compatible with HomeKit, so you will be able to control those gateways and therefore the accessories that are connected to that gateway with the native Apple application «Home».

Belkin is the next to get down to work and created Wemo, a catwalk with which you will be able to control more accessories. Belkin has announced that its Wemo line of smart home solutions now support HomeKit through the new Wemo Bridge. In this way, Wemo users can ask Siri on their iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch: "Siri, turn on Wemo" or "Siri, dim the lights in the living room" or they can use the "Home" application to control any of these devices. Users can also include Wemo products in scenes and rooms to work with over a hundred HomeKit-compatible products and access them on the go.
