7 differences between Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2

differences apple watch series 2 keynote

We have already seen the advertisements and advertisements that Apple has projected and uploaded to the internet. You have them both on their website and on the company's different YouTube channels. They show us the company's watch and some of the uses you can do with it, such as swimming, sports, using GPS and much more. After all, the Apple Watch is a fashion accessory and a good physical activity and health meter. We can't ask much more of you.

Whatever. Below is a list of 7 explained characteristics that make the real difference between both generations of the clock. In case you have doubts. Also, which model should you buy today? Both are for sale and the price difference is significant. Don't miss it, keep reading.

7 differences between Apple Watch Series 1 and 2

Of course I have chosen number 7 for the list for the arrival of the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. Two incredible terminals that represent a revolution to the product although almost imperceptible. Home button, increased power and battery, jack port elimination. All this for a world without cables, as Apple says. But I don't want to talk about the iPhone, but about the Apple Watch. These are the differences between the two generations that you can obtain or reserve today:

  1. GPS. Nothing has been said about the barometer. It is the other feature that we are missing. We are satisfied with the GPS, which is not bad at all and all users demanded it.
  2. Water resistance and is submersible to 50 meters. Even at sea. Something great for the most personal device. Not even on the beach will you have to take it off. Ideal for swimming, surfing or any other water sports activity. Of course, if your thing is scuba diving ... be careful with the 50 meters of depth.
  3. A screen with more than twice the brightness. In any situation it will look good, yes, be careful with the battery. I will talk about this below.
  4. New chip with integrated GPS. This supposes a significant increase in power.
  5. More battery, although the chickens that come in through those that come out. The GPS and the increase in brightness influence that we do not notice that extra battery. For us it will continue to last the same, but with improved use. To know more details we will have to wait to see videos and comparisons of the users themselves.
  6. There is no longer a gold model. The Apple Watch Edition is now perfect white ceramic. The gold and rose gold has been withdrawn from the market.
  7. The price. More expensive than even when the first one went on sale. Main reason why I am not going to buy it.

Which is more recommendable of the two?

Well, the series 1 turns out to be not bad at all. With WatchOS 2 it worked better and with WatchOS 3 they have managed to bring it to life again. Without the need for new hardware it works great. In Spain you can get it from approximately € 330, which is not bad at all, and it has the same battery and almost power as the series 2, only without GPS, with less brightness and all those differences explained above. If you want an Apple Watch but not spend too much and you do not care that it is not submersible (even if it has water resistance), perhaps your best option is series 1. If what you want are those news and a current and powerful terminal, then better Series 2.

Since the design, thickness and appearance is the sameWe do not have details to help us choose in that regard. It is a point against the second generation. It is more expensive but the differences are minimal and almost mandatory in a device like this with such a high price. I'm sure we'll have to wait a couple more years to see a more complete and different Apple Watch. One that we really fall in love with and motivates me to buy it from the first day it goes on sale. For now I am not convinced by either the series 1 or the series 2.
