The reality of Dolby Vision on Apple TV 4K with some TVs

With the arrival of the new Apple TV 4K we were all satisfied and this new Apple TV could play content in 4K resolution in addition to make use of the Dolby Vision standard, that is, HDR sound. However, to be able to use all the features in depth we have to have a compatible LG brand television.

Having seen this, you will ask yourself: What can I do if I have a last generation television with these characteristics from another brand such as Samsung, Sony or Panasonic? Well, we have to wait for these companies to bend their arm and allow the use of Dolby Vision.

Yesterday those from Cupertino launched new updates of the operating systems present in their devices, so we could already be facing a version that can squeeze even more the hardware of the Apple TV on televisions in brands other than LG. Manufacturers like Samsung, Sony or Panasonic the standard they use is HDR10 + And for now, they do not plan to update the firmware of their televisions even if it is the highest-end ones.

Well, despite the fact that those companies did not give their arm to twist, Sony has thrown the ball on Apple's roof and it is that last week it launched, for the United States and Canada, the update that millions of users were waiting for was their televisions , an update that made them compatible with Dolby Vision. Specifically for the A1 OLED, X93E, X94E and Z9D models. This update will arrive in Europe in the month of February, although North Americans are already back with their hearts in hand and that is that Sony has updated their televisions to be able to play 4K Dolby Vision content although it only allows 4K Dolby Vision content to be played in streaming with the applications of the system itself (Android TV) and not from any external player connected by HDMI, such as the Apple TV 4K.

Therefore, now it is Apple that is going to have to update the system of its Apple TV 4K, which we will see if it happens in the new first beta of the system that just came out today, beta that is in the hands of the developers.

Dolby Vision is not HDR sound. It is an alternative image standard to HDR10. The Apple TV 4K plays content with both standards: Dolby Vision or HDR and both ways it looks luxurious.

The sound standard is called Dolby Atmos

It is already certain that the dolby vision support for the Sony X900E series will not arrive…. ???? it's a shame, because it is a television with the same processor, hopefully someone can answer me ... another thing, enough for when it supports Dolby Atmos? regards!
