Dropbox beta for macOS now looks more like iCloud

Dropbox beta for macOS looks like iCloud

Dropbox is probably one of the most used applications to share files between different users and also to save those on which we want to make a backup. Those of us who have Apple also have iCloud and the advantage of this over that one is the ease and speed of synchronization. However with the new Dropbox beta, we see how the program looks more and more like iCloud, of course very good news.

Dropbox wants to be like iCloud

One of the main differences between iCloud and Dropbox is that iCloud syncs the native folder of macOS documents along with your desktop. This means that if you use a MacBook Pro at home and another at the office, for example, this synchronization is quite useful. We can have a file on the desktop and we will find it on all additional devices.

Dropbox limited syncing to your folder. Nevertheless the latest beta of this program or application wants to go one step further. In this new project the option to synchronize documents, downloads and desktop has been added. Once enabled, a folder called "My Mac" will be created in the dropbox that will contain the entire downloads folder. In this way Dropbox can become a backup solution and it will be easier to migrate from one Mac to another and of course switch from iPhone or iPad.

This solution comes at the moment when iCloud has launched folder sharing. In this way, the two great solutions to have our files always available become increasingly similar. There is a big difference and it is the management of deleted items, which at the moment, Dropbox does best.

It is a matter of trying the two applications now and keeping the one that best suits our needs.
