How resistant is the sapphire crystal of the Apple Watch Series 3 Edition?

Tests of this type are always good to see the resistance that these types of materials have beyond what the companies themselves show us. In this case, the video we have after the jump shows us a proof of resistance of the sapphire crystal of the new Apple Watch Series 3 ($ 1299) versus a Tissot with this same type of sapphire crystal.

Apple makes every effort to show that this glass of the Series 3 Edition model resists abrasions and scratches, but it is best to see directly in a video if this is true and above all to what extent they hold up. We in Spain do not have the option to purchase these Apple Watch Edition models, which are made of ceramic and sapphire, but in the United States they are, and some dare to carry out these tests to see how far they hold up.

This is the case of the YouTube channel of Jerry rig everything, which shows us in this video of almost six minutes some hardness tests for this type of glass. Obviously, the sapphire crystal of Apple Series 3 Edition watches is at the highest point in terms of durability, but to what extent?

You can see in this video that the Tissot model in this case, beats the Apple Watch and not by little. Both watches have this material incorporated in the glass as well shown in the tests, but the case of the Swiss watch seems to be somewhat more resistant than the Apple. The conclusions that each one draws as they want but what can be seen in this test is that Apple's sapphire is slightly less resistant than Tissot's. In any case, both models with this material resist abrasions and scratches quite well.
