How to prioritize health data sources on our Apple Watch

The way we have to control our health on Apple Watch It is directly thanks to the data entry sources in this section. All this may seem more complicated than it really is and to avoid making a mess we can say that these are the devices that allow data to be recorded and stored in the health app of our Apple ID.

With this, the Apple smart watch, a third-party chest strap or the iPhone itself can be the external devices that provide this data, but we we can personally control the device we want to be the main one and today we will see how to do it.

How to prioritize data sources

In this case, what we are going to see is the option we have to prioritize the sources of data entry to the Health app of our iPhone so the first thing we have to do is directly access the Health application we have on our iPhone. Once inside, we can start to configure the device that we want to be the main source of data:

  • Click on the Health Data tab
  • Then we choose any category that the app shows us, for example Activity
  • We press a data type such as Floors uploaded, Steps or whatever we want
  • Then we have to select Data sources and access and then click on the Edit option (top right)
  • We press and hold the speech bubble icon for the corresponding data source and drag it to the place we want in the list
  • To deactivate a data source so that it no longer contributes more data to a category, click the check mark next to the source
  • Once the font is changed, press Ok and that's it

It may be the case that we have several sources that contribute the same data type, then the data source that is at the top will have priority over the others. All new apps or devices we add (like a Bluetooth band or a new device) will automatically be placed at the top of the list.
