macOS Catalina does not offer support for multiple iTunes libraries

macos catalina

The guys from Cupertino have confirmed through an internal document that the betas that it currently makes available to developers, such as what are part of the macOS Catalina public beta program, which for now does not offer support for multiple iTunes libraries, a problem for those users who have more than one.

At the macOS Catalina presentation, Apple confirmed the public rumor that pointed to iTunes would cease to be the application for almost everything and it was separated into three smaller ones: Music, TV and Podcast, following the same path as last year when Apple Books became independent from iTunes.

iTunes does not disappear

For now, the two betas that Apple has released for macOS Catalina developers, Like thatreleased for users of the public beta program they do not allow us to switch between the different libraries that we have stored in iTunes. The only thing you can do once you install any of these betas is select which library you want to use.

The rest of the libraries will continue to be in the same location as before, but we will not be able to access them, at least for now, since according to Apple, it will allow access to different libraries in future updates, although it has not specified if it will do so in the next betas as a new function that will arrive in future updates of macOS Catalina.

How to switch between iTunes libraries

Select iTunes Libraries

iTunes allows us to create different libraries where we can have all the available content organized. If we want to switch between the different libraries that we have stored on our computer, we only have to press the Option key when we run iTunes (previously we have to close it), since if it is in the background, it will not detect that we want to change it.

If you had thought install macOS Catalina beta and you use more than one library on iTunes, it is not recommended that you do it, at least until the ability to switch between libraries is available.

Thanks for informing. Other pages in Spanish that I am not going to advertise do not mention this kind of thing that you do. It is appreciated.
