With the arrival of macOS Catalina, iTunes was fragmented into three applications. One of them, the music app, wreaked havoc on DJ apps. One of the most complete, Serato is now ready to join the ecosystem of new software for our Macs.
Serato DJ Pro 2.3 is now available on the Apple store. However the compatibility is not entirely complete. But it seems this is better than nothing.
Serato updates to macOS Catalina, but not quite
The Serato DJ Pro, Lite and Studio versions are already functional with the new update adapting to macOS Catalina. Although with the new Apple software and its music application, cannot export XML files automatically, if it can be done manually.
With the update, improvements are also included in the streaming services, improvements of motorized trays and above all, full Serato DJ Pro library support for Apple Music app.
Now, the update is not entirely complete. There are still compatibility issues between certain hardware and the new version of Serato. This means that if you use Novation Twitch or Numark V7, among others, it is better not to update to macOS Catalina. You can see the available list of all compatibilities, right here.
The same goes for all versions of this great DJ software. Serato Sample, Pitch 'n Time Pro and LE, not yet compatible with macOS Catalina. So for now, as with certain hardware, it is recommended not to update our Mac.
Those of you who use this music application will have to have a little more patience. I don't think it takes too long to update all versions, once the two most powerful have already started the compatibility process.
