Subscribers to old versions of Creative Cloud may face penalties

Creative Cloud

Adobe is notifying users of previous versions of Creative Cloud for possible penalties if they continue to use their apps. These are older versions of Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom Classic, Among others. Adobe no longer has the license for their assignment and warns that the people who use them may face penalties for illegality from third companies.

Adobe sold the management of these applications to other companies, including Dolby and this must have complained about the fraudulent use of certain users. Users face similar penalties for using pirated software.

In the words of Adobe we read the following message:

Adobe recently discontinued certain older versions of Creative Cloud applications. Customers using those versions were notified that they are no longer licensed to use them and given the ability to update to the latest authorized versions.

What type of sanctions have not been detailed will be the ones they face. It all seems to be viewed as something akin to using pirated software. In either case, Adobe indicates that these sanctions are in litigation that are in progress and their final resolution is not known.

The Affected users must have received an email informing them on the cessation and withdrawal of the service. Apparently this cessation does not prevent its use and many users turn a "deaf ear" to the received mail. We know the information through multiple Twitter users who have reported the content of the letter. In turn, the Adobe account @AdobeCare reported the content of the letter, and even expanded the letter commenting that they can not report on the measures carried out by third parties.

If you are a Creative Cloud user, this service lets you use the last two versions of the available applications. Therefore, once again we recommend update to the latest versions to have the news and avoid unnecessary claims. The normal thing is to have your main computer with the latest version, but it is worth checking if you have old Adobe applications on other Macs. When in doubt, we recommend consulting with Adobe.
