The fifth beta of macOS Monterey 12.5 is released for developers

macOS Monterey

With many developers already testing the upcoming macOS Ventura on their computers, Apple continues to work tirelessly on debugging its macOS Monterey 12.5, which will be the last version of Monterey.

This afternoon Apple has released the fifth beta of that developer version. That means that if everything goes as expected, we will soon have the final version for all users.

Just a few hours ago, Apple just released the fifth beta of an upcoming update to macOS Monterey 12.5 for developers. This new version comes just a week after the launch of the fourth beta of macOS Monterey 12.5. That means that the final version is coming soon.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and, once the authorized developer profile is installed, betas will be available through the software update mechanism in System Preferences.

For the user, none of the four previous betas of macOS Monterey 12.5 have found any new features that can be seen with the naked eye. So this update will most likely focus on bug fixes, security patches and other minor improvements that are not noticeable to users.

Most likely, macOS Monterey 12.5 will be one of the last updates to the current Monterey OS, as Apple already has it "in the oven" macOS is coming, the new version of this year's macOS that will arrive this fall, and that will have a lot of new features for the use and enjoyment of current Apple computers.

Presented at the WWDC of the month of June, the first betas of macOS Ventura are already running through the thousands of test Macs from Apple developers. Before the end of the year, it will also be running on the current Macs of Apple users.
