The new Apple Watch are already on sale and these are their main features

Today is the day that many of you will go to an Apple store to see, touch and maybe even buy one of the new watches from the Cupertino firm. This morning the sale of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the new Apple Watch Series 2 and the AirPods started. Some of you are also picking up the product reserved a few days ago and today is a good day for all Apple users. Therefore, first of all and in the case of the purchase of one of the new Apple Watch Series 2, what we are going to share with all of you are the most noticeable differences over the previous model of Apple's smartwatch and thus have a little more of course which one to choose.

New-Apple-Watch

The first thing to say is that the processor update in the Apple Watch Series 1 model is outstanding. So those users who do not want or do not need the news provided by the new model launched today or want to save a little money on the purchase in exchange for losing some features, this may be a model to consider. Therefore after the presentation last Wednesday let's see the differences between both models.

Actually There are three models of the Apple smart watch. The one with an aluminum case, the one with a steel case and finally the most exclusive with a ceramic case that replaces the gold model. Among these three models we find two different case sizes, the 38 mm and the 42 mm. Then we also have the option to choose between the sports straps, braided nylon, leather or the straps of the Hermès or the Nike model.

Well, having said that, we can say that the ceramic model is a little thicker than the rest. leaving the measurements of all models As follows:

Apple Watch Series 1

  • 38mm: 38.6mm x 33.3mm x 10.5mm
  • 42mm: 42.5mm x 36.4mm x 10.5mm

Apple Watch Series 2

  • 38mm: 38.6mm x 33.3mm x 11.4mm
  • 42mm: 42.5mm x 36.4mm x 11.4mm

Apple Watch Series 2 (Ceramic)

  • 38mm: 39.2mm x 34mm x 11.8mm
  • 42mm: 42.6mm x 36.5mm x 11.4mm

Once we have the clear measurements that are really almost the same in all the models except for that small variation in the ceramic model, we go with the most outstanding features of these new watches launched today by Apple and of the previous model that we call Apple Watch Series 0.

Apple Watch Series 1

  • Aluminum case
  • Dual-core S1P processor (the old one was the single-core S1)
  • Resistant to splash IPX7 (full immersion at 1 meter for 30 minutes)
  • Ion-X glass and composite back
  • OLED Retina Display (450 nits of brightness)
  • 340 x 272 pixels (38 mm)
  • 390 x 312 pixels (42 mm)
  • Autonomy of up to 18 hours

Apple Watch Series 2

  • Aluminum, stainless steel and ceramic case
  • Dual-core S2 processor (the old one was the single-core S1)
  • GPS antenna
  • 50m water resistance
  • Ion-X crystal (Sport and Nike +) or sapphire (Steel, Ceramic, Hermes) and ceramic back on all models
  • OLED Retina Display (1000 nits brightness)
  • 340 x 272 pixels (38 mm)
  • 390 x 312 pixels (42 mm)
  • Autonomy of up to 18 hours

Prices and availability

The price is the most significant of these models and is that Apple has not touched the prices for the old model (reissued with the new Series 1 processor) and this may be a point to take into account for those who do not need the GPS and the water resistance to 50 m.

Apple Watch Series 1

  • 38mm model for 369 euros
  • 42mm model for 409 euros

Apple Watch Series 2

  • 38mm model for 439 euros
  • 42mm model for 469 euros

Regarding the availability of the watch it really is rather fair. Apple tells us on the web that shipping will take between 3 and 5 weeks, something that can really be reduced with the passing of the hours, but in principle it is better to be clear that until the end of October or the beginning of November (making the purchase right now in at the time of writing) we will not receive it. On the contrary, the stock in the stores seems to be somewhat higher and if they have several models today, it remains to be seen how they are sold and if they manage to maintain the stock.
