Enable Handoff for use in compatible applications on Apple Watch and your Mac

Although this time we change one device for another, that is, instead of using our iPhone or iPad to activate Handoff we do it with the Apple Watch, in reality it does not change its mode of use excessively since the Apple Watch could be classified as an extension of the iPhone in many respects. In fact, the process requires that both iPhone and Mac are properly configured and networked with the Apple Watch so that it works with handoff.

The first thing we will obviously do is activate Handoff on our Apple Watch, as well as have our iPhone paired and a Mac computer that serves as a destination for this test. To carry it out within the Apple Watch, the Handoff option can be found in the Apple Watch application of our iPhone at My Watch> General> Handoff.

Regarding how to configure our Handoff on our iPhone to work on Mac, it will simply be necessary to have iCloud configured on our devices and in turn also have the option activated in System Preferences> General> Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices. If your equipment does not meet the requirements for continuity, we leave you a little trick to activate it on unsupported equipment in a previous article.

Once Handoff is enabled and all devices are associated with the same iCloud account and connected to the same Wi-Fi network, It is simply we will have to open some of the applications compatible with this function within our Apple Watch such as Calendar, Maps, Mail or Messages.

In this way, when this application is executed, an icon with a clock shape will appear in the upper right corner of the icon in our OS X Dock, something that we already saw with our iPhone but that now simply changes the icon's format. For example, if we activate Maps on the clock, the application will be shown on Mac with that small icon on top of the application itself, indicating that we already have it open on the clock itself. As you can see, something very simple that improves the continuity experience that Apple tries to take care of as much as possible so that all our devices are always in sync and in contact so that we can continue what we were doing wherever we left off.
