Apple releases Release Candidate version of watchOS 7.2 to developers

Watch 7

One week after the launch of the third beta and one month after the launch of watchOS 7.1, Apple today released the Release Candidate version of an upcoming watchOS 7.2 beta version to developers for testing purposes. If you are a developer, don't wait too long and download this new version.

The new Release Candidate version of watchOS 7.2 does not add any new functionality to the existing ones. Remember that version 7.2 adds a Cardio Fitness function for the Apple Watch, and Apple says that cardiovascular exercise metrics are a "strong indicator of overall health". The characteristic measures VO2 max, or the maximum amount of oxygen your body is capable of consuming during exercise. Measurements are taken over time, and your Apple Watch and iPhone can send notifications to inform you of fluctuations in your VO2 max. Cardio Fitness can be accessed through a new trend that has been added to the Activity app. It can be configured in the Health application on iPhone. Cardio fitness levels are available for users over the age of 20, and are estimated by age.

Cardio Fitness information will vary by age and gender, and will be classified into one of four ranges: high, above average, below average, or low. Notifications will let you know if your cardiovascular fitness is at a low level, giving you motivation to move more.

In order to install this new beta version of watchOS 7.2, developers must download the appropriate configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center. Once the profile is installed, watchOS 7.2 beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone. To do this you have to go to General> Software update. Remember that to update to the new software, the Apple Watch must have 50 percent battery life, it must be placed on the charger and must be within range of the iPhone.
