We cannot report a lot of technical data, since Apple reserves all that data for its launch in early 2015. In yesterday's Keynote, they have given little technical data, commenting a bit on how it is built internally and of course, presenting a summary of the operation of the software that gives it life.
The Apple Watch is not a watch that has any hardware. It has a new chip that they have called S1, which has been specifically designed for this wearable. On the back it has the sensors that will be measuring vital signs and collecting information about your physical activity. The Apple Watch is designed for that, and it does it all day long. A special sensor that uses infrared and visible light LEDs to detect the pulse has been placed at the rear. This sensor is protected by a ceramic or silicate coating (for Apple Watch Sport) with sapphire lenses. The Apple Watch uses them, along with an accelerometer and your iPhone's GPS and Wi-Fi, to measure all kinds of physical movement, from getting up from a chair to the most intense training. In this way, the watch can offer complete information on your daily activity and propose objectives adapted to our possibilities.
Regarding the software, we can inform you that the operating system that drives it is not a devitamized iOS 8 and adapted. It is a new interface, with a new operating mode that will have its own application store. That is why they have decided not to call it iWatch, because it does not have an iOS operating system. In any case, the system seems to flow like a charm and combines the use of the pressure sensitive touch screen with which we press it, the side button and the selection wheel.
Many are the users who are already commenting that they do not know what Apple was thinking when putting that selection wheel on the Apple Watch. The answer is, probably, that they have wanted to make a nod to the timepieces of a lifetime and want to offer us a watch that is both elegant and modern and maintains the scenic of what a watch is.
As for the other specifications, Apple has left them in the pipeline, since it will be presented from January 2015. It should be noted that they have invented a new charging system which makes the device induction charging with a new innovative charger.
