Instagram Apple Watch

If you have updated your iPhone to the latest version of Instagram, 39.0, and you have an Apple Watch, you will have had a nasty surprise: Instagram for Apple Watch has disappeared. That is, now or you can follow, for the moment, your feed from the Apple smart watch.

We must go back to the first applications of the Apple Watch to know what is the main reason for this disappearance. And is that Instagram is developed under watchKit 1.0, which depended on the iPhone to work well. However, Apple itself has already warned that As of April 1, 2018, it stopped supporting this platform. All Apple Watch applications had to be native and developed under the watchKit 2.0 development kit (SDK).

Instagram Apple Watch disappears

Until now, Instagram for Apple Watch worked as one more extension of the application we had on our iPhone. Nevertheless, the social network never dared to launch a version of Instagram for Apple Watch that worked autonomously on the smartwatch, even though it has the ability to connect to WiFi networks and more recently, to use LTE networks —in Spain we are still waiting for this version.

As reported from 9to5mac, still We do not know if this disappearance will be permanent or we only have to see if after this repercussion in the media it makes Instagram develop and launch an independent version for Apple Watch —Something that Google already promised with Maps. Now, at the moment there are already several applications that have gotten off the car and have moved away from the smart watch platform. Some of them are: Slack - the popular instant messaging application that works so well for group work - Twitter, Amazon, eBay and Google Maps.

For the rest, it seems that Apple Watch users have not complained too much about all these absences that we have mentioned. And the uses of the smart watch are heading in other ways - even Apple is approaching it this way -, such as health.
