The latest macOS Mojave beta includes references to a new LG monitor

LG macOS Mojave Monitor Icon

When Apple decided to focus its efforts on the range of devices that give it money, it announced that it was abandoning the manufacture of its monitors, with LG being the manufacturer chosen for meet the needs of the users of the Cupertino-based company. At that moment, LG and Apple introduced the LG UltraFine 4k and UltraFine 5k.

It has been almost three years since Apple introduced them as recommended monitors for Macs, but it seems that shortly, these monitors, or at least one of them will be replaced by a new one or will complement them. Pierre Dandumont has discovered in the code of the second beta of macOS Mojave 10.14.4 reference to a new model.

LG Ultra Wide 5k

The code for this macOS beta includes a new hardware identifier for a LG monitor model (0x5b74) that is not yet available on the market. The icon for this code is pretty much the same as the 5k UltraFine model, so it shouldn't show many changes in design, which gives us to understand that it will be a revision of the existing model in the App Store and with 5k resolution, instead of a new model manufactured by the same Korean company.

This icon will likely be updated when LG and Apple introduce this new monitor, which will likely arrive when the final version of macOS that is now in beta is available to all users, something that will probably happen in a couple of weeks.

Since LG will present the range of monitors to replace Apple's Cinema Display, the Korean company has launched different additional models compatible with Thunderbolt 3. One of the most outstanding is the 5 inch 34k monitor with 21: 9 aspect ratio. We will be awaiting the launch of the new monitor to inform you promptly.
